Getting Started
AutoVOD.ai is a web platform that helps you automatically download livestream VODs and videos from multiple services, then generate content for your social media. Originally based on open source projects like OpusClip and autovod.
Quick Start
- Create an account — sign up with email or use Google, Twitch, GitHub, Discord, or Apple OAuth.
- Download a video — head to the Downloader page and paste a YouTube URL to start a direct download.
- Set up a live downloader — add a streamer's username and choose a platform. AutoVOD will automatically record whenever they go live.
- Generate clips — once a VOD is in your Library, use the Clip Generator to create AI-powered highlights.
- Browse your Library — view, download, or favourite any file.

Downloader
The Downloader page has two modes, accessible via tabs at the top of the page.
Live Stream Downloaders
Live downloaders continuously monitor a streamer and automatically record whenever they go live. Each downloader runs on our worker infrastructure and requires no action from you once configured.
- Enter a username and select the platform (Twitch, YouTube, or Kick).
- Choose a quality preset (Best, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, or Worst) and output format (MP4 or MKV).
- Optionally enable Generate Clips to automatically create AI highlights when the recording finishes.
- Toggle a downloader on or off at any time without deleting it.
When a stream ends, the worker converts the recording and uploads it to cloud storage. A new file entry will appear in your Library.
YouTube Video Download
For one-off downloads, switch to the YouTube Video Download tab, paste a URL, choose quality and format, then click Download Video. The task is queued on our worker and you can track its status in the download history below the form.
- Audio-only mode downloads just the audio track, which is faster and uses less storage.
- Completed downloads link directly to the file viewer in your Library.
- Failed downloads can be retried with one click.
Clip Generator
The AI Clip Generator analyses your videos and automatically extracts the most engaging moments as individual clips.
How It Works
- The video is downloaded to a worker node.
- Audio is extracted and transcribed using Whisper.
- An LLM ranks segments by viral potential based on the transcript.
- Top moments are extracted as individual clip files and uploaded to storage.
- Clips appear in your Library ready for download or auto-upload.
Configuration
- Auto generate from livestreams — when enabled, clips are automatically generated after each live stream recording finishes.
- Clips per hour (1 – 10) — controls how many clips the AI targets per hour of source video.
- Clip duration (30 – 900s) — the target length for each generated clip.
- Clips per video (1 – 50) — maximum number of clips generated per video.
- LLM Temperature (0 – 1) — lower values make the AI more focused/consistent, higher values make it more creative.
Manual Generation
Select one or more VOD/download files from the list, then click Generate Clips. Progress is shown in the Generation Jobs panel on the right. Each clip costs one credit.
Automation
The Automation page lets you schedule automatic uploads of clips and shorts to connected social accounts.
Connected Accounts
Connect your YouTube and TikTok accounts in Settings → Connections. Once connected, AutoVOD can upload clips directly to these platforms on your behalf.
Upload Schedule
- Frequency — upload immediately after generation, once daily, twice daily, or weekly.
- Preferred time — when not uploading immediately, choose the time of day uploads should go out.
- Content settings — toggle auto-generated titles, descriptions, and thumbnails.
Library
Your Library is where all downloaded and generated content. Every VOD recording, direct download, clip, audio file, thumbnail, and metadata file lives here.
Browsing & Filtering
- Tabs — filter by type: All, Favorites, VODs, Downloads, Clips, Audio, Thumbnails, or Metadata.
- Search — full-text search across file names and titles.
- Sort — by date, name, or duration in ascending or descending order.
- View modes — switch between a thumbnail grid and a compact list.
File Viewer
Click any file to open the built-in viewer. Videos play in-browser, audio files stream with a waveform player, images are displayed inline, and text/JSON files are syntax-highlighted. A download button is always available for saving the original file.
Uploading
Click on the upload button to upload your own video file. Select the file type and click Upload.
Credits System
Credits are used when generating clips. Each clip generated costs 1 credit. Downloading VODs and live stream recordings does not consume credits.
Plans
| Plan | Price | Credits / month | Downloads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0.00 | 50 | 1 per day |
| Basic | $7.99 | 1,000 | Unlimited |
| Pro | $29.99 | 5,000 | Unlimited |
You can check your remaining credits on the Dashboard or in Settings → Subscription. When credits run low, you'll receive an in-app notification (configurable in Settings → Notifications).
Troubleshooting
Download stuck on "pending"
This usually means no worker nodes are available. Check the Dashboard for worker status. If all workers show as offline, the system may be under maintenance — try again in a few minutes.
Live downloader not recording
Verify the streamer's username is spelled correctly and that the correct platform is selected. The downloader checks the stream status approximately every 60 seconds, so there may be a short delay before recording starts. Also ensure the downloader is toggled to Enabled.
Clip generation failed
Clip generation requires a valid video file with an audio track. If the source file is corrupted or has no audio, the transcription step will fail. Check the error message in the Generation Jobs panel for details.
Video won't play in the Library viewer
The in-browser player supports MP4 and WebM. MKV files may not play in some browsers — use the Download button to save the file and play it locally with VLC or similar.
