AutoVOD.ai is a platform that helps you automatically download livestream VODs and videos from multiple services, then generate content for your social media. Originally based on open source projects like OpusClip and autovod.

Quick Start

1. Create an account - sign up with email or with Google, Apple, GitHub, Discord, or Twitch.
2. Download a video - head to the Downloader page and paste a Twitch VOD or YouTube URL to start a direct download.
3. Set up a Live Downloader - add a streamer's username and choose a platform. The server will automatically record whenever they go live.
4. Generate clips - once a VOD is in your Library, use the Clip Generator to create AI-powered clips.
5. Browse your Library - view, download, or favorite any file.

Supported Platforms

The Downloader page has two modes, accessible via tabs at the top of the page.

Live Stream Downloaders

Live downloaders continuously monitor a streamer and automatically record whenever they go live. Each downloader runs on our worker infrastructure and requires no action from you once configured.

• Enter a username and select the platform (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, Picarto, or GoodGame).
• Choose a quality preset (Best, 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, or Worst) and output format (MP4 or MKV).
• Optionally enable Generate Clips to automatically create AI highlights when the recording finishes. If a workflow runs on this streamer's recordings, the workflow runs instead.
• Toggle a downloader on or off at any time without deleting it.

When a stream ends, the worker converts the recording and uploads it to cloud storage. A new file entry will appear in your Library.

Video Download

For one-off downloads, switch to the Video Downloader tab, paste a URL, choose quality and format, then click Download Video. Twitch broadcasts/VODs (twitch.tv/videos/…) and YouTube links are both supported. The task is queued on our worker and you can track its status in the download history below the form.

• Audio-only mode downloads just the audio track, which is faster and uses less storage.
• Completed downloads link directly to the file viewer in your Library.
• Failed downloads can be retried with one click.

The AI Clip Generator analyses your videos and automatically extracts the most engaging moments as individual clips.

How It Works

1. The video is downloaded to a worker node.
2. Audio is extracted and transcribed using Whisper.
3. An LLM ranks segments by viral potential based on the transcript.
4. Top moments are extracted as individual clip files and uploaded to storage.
5. Clips appear in your Library ready for download or auto-upload.

Configuration

• Configs - save several named configs and pick the active one.
• Clips per hour (1 – 10) - controls how many clips the AI targets per hour of source video.
• Clip duration (15 – 900s) - the target length for each generated clip.
• Clips per video (1 – 50) - maximum number of clips generated per video.
• LLM Temperature (0 – 1) - lower values make the AI more focused/consistent, higher values make it more creative.
• Transcription language and an optional custom prompt to steer which moments the AI picks.

Manual Generation

Select one or more VOD/download files from the list, then click Generate Clips. Progress is shown in the Generation Jobs panel on the right. Each source video costs 10 credits, however many clips it produces.

Every tool lives under Tools, runs on your Library files, and saves its results back to the Library. Each can also be a step in a workflow, except Merger.

• Shorts Creator - turns clips into vertical 9:16 shorts with optional animated captions, face-aware cropping, a headline, and a platform label.
• Re-encoder - changes the format (MP4, MKV, WebM), resolution, or codec.
• Summarizer - writes an AI summary of a video.
• Trimmer - cuts a video to a start and end time.
• Merger - joins several videos into one.

Workflows connection tools together so they run on their own, for example live recording → Generate Clips → Generate Shorts → Human Approval → Upload. Build them on the Workflows tab of the Automation page.

Triggers

• Run manually - you pick the files and press Run.
• When a live recording finishes - runs on each recording from your live downloaders. Leave it on all streamers, or pick which ones.
• When a download finishes - runs on every video you download directly.

Steps

• Generate Clips - finds the best moments in a full VOD or download and cuts them into clips.
• Generate Shorts - turns clips into vertical 9:16 shorts with optional captions. A shorts label can include {streamer} to show the streamer's name.
• Re-encode and Trim - change the format or cut the length of clips and shorts.
• Summarize - writes an AI summary of a full VOD or download and passes the video on unchanged.
• Human Approval - pauses the workflow until you review the results (see below).
• Upload - posts to a connected YouTube or TikTok account. It is always the last step, and you can space uploads out by a set number of minutes.

Each step has a Process at most limit (5 by default) so one long stream can't fill your job queue.

Step Order

Each step has to receive files it can work with. Shorts, Re-encode, and Trim work on clips, not full recordings, so in a workflow triggered by a live recording or a download, put Generate Clips first. The builder marks a step in red if it can't get usable files, greys out steps you can't add yet ("needs clips first"), and won't save a workflow until every step can run.

Approvals

When a workflow reaches a Human Approval step, it waits on the Approvals tab. The Automation link in the sidebar shows how many are waiting. Every result starts selected: untick any you don't want, then approve to continue, or approve with nothing selected to cancel the run. Two optional settings: a minimum virality score to hide weaker clips, and auto-approve after a set number of hours if you don't review in time.

Uploads

Connect YouTube and TikTok in Settings → Connections. Uploads from workflows appear on the Uploads page with their status. A video is never posted twice to the same platform: if it's already queued or uploaded there, it's skipped. If an upload fails or is cancelled, a later run can upload that video again.

If one file in a step fails, the rest keep going. A run fails only when a step has no files left to pass on. When you run out of credits or job slots, the run pauses and picks up again once they're available.

Your Library holds all your downloaded and generated content: every VOD recording, direct download, clip, short, audio file, image, thumbnail, and metadata file.

Browsing & Filtering

• Tabs - filter by type: All, Favorites, VODs, Downloads, Clips, Shorts, Audio, Images, Thumbnails, or Metadata.
• Search - search by file name or title.
• Sort - by date, name, or duration in ascending or descending order.
• View modes - switch between a thumbnail grid and a compact list.

File Viewer

Click any file to open the built-in viewer. Videos and audio play in-browser, images are displayed inline, and text and JSON files are shown as text. AI summaries are shown in a readable layout. A download button is always available for saving the original file.

Uploading

Click on the upload button to upload your own video file. Select the file type and click Upload.

Downloads, recordings, tools, and uploads cost credits. Credits are taken when a task starts and refunded if it fails, is cancelled, or skips a file.

Plans

You can check your remaining credits on the Dashboard or in Settings → Subscription. When credits run low, you'll receive an in-app notification (configurable in Settings → Notifications).
