copyThis

What does copyThis mean?

copyThis is a sheet of paper. It marks the start of a copypasta. The matching closer is pastaThat, the spaghetti. Chat puts copyThis before the wall of text and pastaThat after it, so everyone can see the ritual and mods can see it too. Used alone, it means 'copy this' or 'here comes the pasta.'

Origin

Twitch added the pair as globals so copypasta had official brackets instead of only third-party emotes. The document is the copy. The pasta is the paste. That is the entire system. They are not hype emotes and they are not sad emotes.

When to use copyThis

• Immediately before a copypasta
• Telling someone to copy a link, a build, or a command
• With pastaThat as the closer, which is the actual custom
• Not in the middle of a sincere message. It announces a script.
