KAPOW

What does KAPOW mean?

KAPOW is the comic-book burst, yellow and red, the sound of a hit that deserves a sound effect. Chat posts it for a punch, a smack, a sudden elim, or any impact you want lettered like a panel. It is one hit. If the fight turned into a pile, that is JonCarnage. If it was a gun, PewPewPew is the finger.

Origin

Drawn global, onomatopoeia as the entire emote. Twitch did not need a face. The letters are the face. It reads at any size, which is why it survives in fast chats where a photo would be a blur.

When to use KAPOW

• A punch, a bonk, a sudden elim
• Fighting games and anything with a clean hit confirm
• Sound-effect spam when chat wants a panel
• One impact, not a whole teamfight
